    Senior Travel Bus Tours

Best Scotland Tours & Trips For Senior Travelers 2021

One popular option for senior travel is by coach. Coach-based tours are a convenient way of getting between the sights without having to wait in line, or worry about which route is the most efficient. Traveling by bus is also a great opportunity to see a lot more of wherever you are visiting — not just the tourist sites — and get a good feel for the place youre in.

If you love the outdoors, bus tours are an extremely popular option for seniors in the U.S. They provide a great way to move between the national parks, and, as mentioned, see everything in between. Even if you dont love nature, consider taking a cultural bus tour around a specific region or state. For example, travel by coach between ranches and bustling metropolises in Texas.

Tiny villages dot the outskirts, some with thatched roofs, most with a freshly painted white facade. You spot stone walls and separate fields of cows while an ancient abbey stands on the edge of a lake. In this national park, you can drive and admire the views. You can walk and inhale the salty air. You can take photos from viewpoints and disappear into valleys where nobody else is around. Of course, you can stop in the villages for a cup of tea and a slice cake, as well as driving onto the coast where Irelandâs only fjord provides another unique attraction today.

What Is The Weather Like In Ireland And When Is The Best Time To Visit

The best time to visit Ireland is between March and May, and September to November when itâs not as crowded as it is in summer, or as cold as it is in winter.

Ireland has an oceanic climate, cool and damp, cloudy and rainy throughout the year. Summer heat and winter frost are rare. Temperatures do not vary much however, the western coasts are milder in winter and cooler in summer. The southwest coast is particularly mild in winter. In Ireland, Atlantic weather fronts move relentlessly one after another over the country, resulting in a rapid succession of cloudiness and sunshine, rain showers and subsequent improvements. Days with completely clear skies are rare: the weather is more likely to be variable or unstable, and in the interludes between disturbances you can expect, rather than clear skies, clouds running in the sky.

    Responsible Travel Tips For Ireland

    • Learn at least the local greetings in Gaelic to break the ice. The more you know of the native language, the greater your experience of the country will be.
    • Carry a business card in your wallet or purse from your local hotel, to assist you with the return journey if you do become lost.
    • Always ensure that you are covered by travel insurance. If you need advice on this feel free to contact Odyssey and weâll be able to help.
    • When travelling independently, make sure you check the opening hours of shops and museums so that you donât miss out! Museums and galleries are often closed on Mondays. Also be certain to check whether your trip coincides with any public holidays, so you can plan accordingly.
    • Consider contacting your bank to inform them that you may be making purchases overseas. Otherwise, they may flag any activity on your account as suspicious. Also, check which ATMs and banks are compatible with your cards, to ensure you can withdraw cash with minimal fees.
    • Before departing, make sure you have a number of euros in a range of denominations. You donât want to be carrying around enormous amounts of cash, but take enough to make it easy to pay in locations that might not accept credit card. It will also help you avoid card transaction fees, and it makes tipping a breeze.

    Ferry From Ireland To Scotland

If you have your own car or are using this itinerary as part of a larger European trip, you might also consider taking the ferry from Ireland to Scotland or vice versa. This would also work if youre planning to fly in and out of the same airport. However, if you are flying into Scotland or Ireland and plan to fly out of a different airport, I would not recommend taking the ferry. Especially since flights between Scotland and Ireland are so cheap!

If you do decide to rent a car in one country and leave it in the other, it will cost you at least $1500 USD . And then you have the cost of the ferry on top of that which is a few hundred dollars. While sailing across the North Chanel is truly beautiful, Its not worth the expense if you will be renting a car.
