How Long Does It Take To Renew A Green Card

    What Happens If I Dont Renew My Green Card

    The validity of your Green Card has nothing to do with your status as a legal US resident. However, it is your responsibility to keep the information on your Green Card always up-to-date.

    According to Section 264 of the Immigration and Nationality Act , you can be fined up to $100 or go to jail for up to 30 days if you get caught without your Green Card. This could also cause problems for you when you want to apply for US citizenship later.
